Women are not just a rising economic force, they are a sleeping giant. In fact, if women invested at the same rate as men, there would be an additional $3.22 trillion in global assets under management. However, despite this undeniable potential and possibility, many wealth management firms and the industry still fail to fully grasp the unique needs of women investors, leaving them underserved and overlooked. That’s why Female Folio created the She-Wolf Investor podcast – a game-changing initiative driven by a team of passionate women who are dedicated to empowering their fellow women with the financial knowledge they need to make informed decisions and achieve their financial goals.
We couldn’t be prouder that our podcast has been nominated for both Finance Content Campaign of the Year and Podcast/Audio Campaign of the Year. These nominations serve as a testament to the impact we’ve already made and the exciting potential that lies ahead.
Our podcast was crafted with women in mind who might not have considered investing before but were eager to delve deeper into finding out more. As the podcast has evolved, we have gained a wide audience of followers, including the younger generation who are just beginning their financial journey. By providing accessible and engaging content, we aim to empower women from all walks of life to take control of their financial futures and own their investment story.
The She-Wolf Investor has boasted a captivating line-up of guests so far, featuring an array of financial experts and visionary entrepreneurs. In its inaugural year, we’ve been fortunate to host some truly exceptional individuals on our show. Earlier this year, we had the privilege of speaking with Selina Flavius, the inspiring founder of Black Girl Finance, who boasts a substantial following of over 14,000 on Instagram. In another episode, we had the pleasure of interviewing Kalpana Fitzpatrick, a prominent financial journalist and the brilliant author of the bestselling book “Invest Now.” And we rounded off this first series with an inspiring and engaging conversation with female personalities from the Jersey Cricket team.
The podcast emphasises that investing is for everyone, regardless of gender, income, or background. By making investing accessible and understandable, the podcast benefits its listeners by demystifying financial concepts and breaking down psychological and societal barriers that can prevent women from taking control of their financial futures.
As well as providing actionable tips, the podcast also focuses on the social impact and ethical implications of investing. Statistics show that women would invest, or invest more, if the impact of their investment aligned with their personal values. Of the $3.22 trillion that would enter the market if women invested at the same rate as men, $1.87 trillion would flow into impact investments benefiting people and the environment.
The interest in responsible investing is evident throughout the series through the hosts’ and guests’ passion for making people’s lives better and creating positive change in the world.
While the podcast is predominantly aimed at women, we also want male audiences to understand the challenges that women face in finance. Our ultimate goal is to dismantle the barriers that women often face when it comes to investing, while simultaneously boosting a greater level of financial literacy. By stimulating thought-provoking conversations and shedding light on the invaluable contributions that financial advisers can make in the lives of women, we aim to transform the landscape of investing.
At the Female Folio and Message Unheard teams, we are incredibly honoured to have been shortlisted this year and we are eagerly anticipating the upcoming awards ceremony. Until then we will continue to create content that empowers women to think about their own investment stories, one episode at a time.
Join us on this journey as we confront stereotypes, unlock possibilities, and champion financial empowerment for women across the UK. Together, we will redefine what it means to be an investor.
